That is often our idea, — that we must reform somebody else; but if we could bring ourselves to feel that weeding our own garden, and watering our own plants, and fulfilling our own vocation is what God requires of us, how much better it would be for the entire Church of Christ.—Spurgeon

White Horse Inn and Modern Reformation

Edifying Discussion and Publications

White Horse Inn Logo Lately I’ve been tuning into the discussion over at White Horse Inn. They feature a radio show program, available to listen online, with discussion on various important topics within Christendom. The main characters are Michael Horton, Dr. Rod Rosenbladt, Ken Jones, and Dr. Kim Riddlebarger. They typically invite an expert speaker to come and discuss a particular topic and then they all join in discussion. The speakers are excellent and Michael Horton asks excellent questions.

I found many of these discussion to be very edifying and helpful. Even though these guys have reformed backgrounds, the show is not overtly reformed in the sense that they are bent on pushing Calvinism or reformed doctrine. Their primary concern is the strengthening and edification of the people of God. They are concerned with promoting discernment of the ideas and teachings floating around us and helping Christians to stay on track as followers of Jesus Christ.

White Horse Inn also works to publish the Modern Reformation magazine. I have subscribed to this magazine and it is among the best magazines for Christians to read. The articles are relevant and applicable to Christians today. The articles are well written accessible to a wide audience.

White Horse Inn and Modern Reformation are my top picks for must-have information to be digested by Christians. Check it out!

Francis Schaeffer L’Abri Online Library

Now Open to the Public

Francis Schaeffer is fascinating to listen to. His video series “How then Shall We Live” takes the viewer on walk through history, reflecting on the meeting of culture and Christianity. Reflecting on culture in light of the truths we find in Scripture is a worthwhile endeavor, helping us to discern between truth and error. Each generation experiences exciting ideas that bubble up out of our culture. Men like Francis Schaeffer take the time to reflect on these ideas, where they came from, where they are going. His online library is now open for all to explore. I haven’t taken a look yet, but I’m certain there is probably something for everyone in there.
